50-70 pageviews per user

Is that too much?

I've just started a new website which is in beta at the moment.

The nature of the website is that you have to check back regularly for updates while also performing some updates yourself.

As a result, I'm getting something like 50-70 pageviews per user.

Is this a bad thing?

While it's nice (or is it?) to have an inflated pageview count, I'd imagine my CPM would be fairly low if I decided to start putting some ads up.

You're averaging 50-70 pageviews per user?

I'm lucky to get 5 or 6.

You will find the click-thru to your ads very low since the users get numb to the ads over their long stays on your site.

On the other hand, you can probably do well with CPM (banner) ads.

10 iframes per page?

That's a lot of page views. If you have a high proportion of regular visitors then ad blindness would set in very quickly. If you were building the site with a view to making an income from ads then you would be going the wrong way about it.

On the other hand if you are building the site regardless then it is still worth trialling some ads. Your stats may not be as impressive as some claims that I have seen but if you can cover the cost of something that you will do anyway then go for it.
