How to increase site traffic

I had spended weeks on build a download site.
But I don't know how to increase traffic
I had post it on google yahoo and msn search engine.
But a week past, few view.
Anyone could help me?

start doing link exchange with the rel vent websites. Also do link exchange with blogs, forums.

link exchanges will only get you so far...build up some quality and unique content for your site, try and get it onto social media networks and of course some blogs. If people like your content, then hopefully it start to snowball and those people will refer others who refer others etc etc...

Think outside the box! Create a personality that fits your audience but is different from the main stream. Make if fit you! When you use social media tools, bring this personality to your profiles and posts. Weave an online presence - think branding. IT takes longer to execute but will last and continue to grow with you as your business(es) grow.
