How much affiliate income are you losing to "helpful widgets"?

This is specific to eBay and there is no way for me not to mention the name because the subject involves them directly and the problem is real.

EPN affiliates send traffic to ebay wanting to earn some referral income however a good percentage of the auctions they send visitors to contain "helpful widgets" that offer to show a visitor some more auctions. I've verified that several of these widgets are stealing the affiliate commission!

The last link to set the cookie gets credit but when that link is directly on an auction page already I feel it's pure theft. Many people who bid will browse around, if they then re-bid the site who sent that visitor loses the commission, it goes instead to the owner of the various widgets (there are several of them doing the same thing).

I feel this is worthy of posting here because ebays own terms of service state "Pages that contain affiliate links may not be linked to via any eBay auction page" yet these widgets are doing exactly that.

If ebay won't fix the problem it won't be long before the people sending traffic are offered a way to filter auctions/dealers who use those "helpful widgets" and then it hurts everyone, not just the affiliate.

If ebay won't fix the problem ...

But will they or not?

If this is already against ebay TOS, what do they have to say about it?
