Proxy Authentication Required

But I'm not using a proxy server

So in the last few hours I keep getting a proxy aunthentication message where I am supposed to enter a username and pw, yet I am not running a proxy server. I get this message on both firefox and opera.

I just ran a few different spyware programs and nothing is out of the ordinary. I've never seen anything like this in all of my years surfing.

Any idea of what it could be?

What AV software are you running?

Some of them live Avast have a proxy built in.

Also, some ISPs use a proxy and it could be an ISP error.

Also check the settings in your browser to make sure they aren't pointed to a proxy which could happen if you have a trojan or something that hijacked your browser.
