Run Site Under Which Domain

already set up on one domain

I have a site that was set up about 2 months ago under thisdomainname.com. I just found a "better" domain name available and registered it.

Am I better off setting up the new domain and redirecting from the older domain, or taking down the older domain and parking it on the new domain?

Any Google issues involved?

Are you sure that the new domain name is the one you are going to want to stick with? Is there a chance that in another 2 months time you will find another better domain name and want to switch to that? Also what is better about the new name, why do you want to switch?

If you are going to switch, upload your site to the new domain and 301 the old domain to it, this will show the search engines that you have just moved address (It's a bit like asking the post office to re-direct yoru mail, people still know where to find you)
