Changing nameservers seems to have no effect?

I bought myname.com several years ago through a random registrar and hosted it with a random company. Now, I design websites and have a whole quiver of domains under 1 registrar and host most of my client sites under my reseller hosting account. In an effort to clean things up, I tried switching myname.com over to the system I have in place with my other sites.

Also, myname.com fell into disrepair a couple years ago so I 301'ed it to another domain. Now, I want to undo the 301 to build a site on the original myname.com.

So what I did was I successfully transferred my domain registration to my preferred registrar and switched the nameservers to point to my reseller hosting account, where I set up an account for the domain. Same thing I've done on a dozen other sites. Oh, and I canceled my hosting through the original company. All this was finished a few days ago.

Now, when I go to myname.com, it still redirects and I can't log into the FTP account on my reseller hosting, but I'm still able to log into the FTP account on my old hosting.

If my domain's nameservers are set up to correctly point to my new hosting, shouldn't it cut the old host out of the process? Why is it still redirecting?

I thought of that, but every time I have switched nameservers on my registrar, the changes go through within 5-10 minutes. It's been a few days...

Huh, sorry about that. Looks like if I had waited 2 more hours to post, I wouldn't have needed to. It must have just taken longer to propagate than usual. Fixed now--thanks for the help!

It's odd these days when it takes that long, but I guess that's why there's usually a cautionary note about it taking up to 72 hours for the changes to fully propagate. Glad it's working for you now.
