At what rate should i add pages to my site?

Hello, i have a quality site that has several thousand pages. I need to add about 10,000 more product specific pages. These are all quality pages (not spam) but I feel if i added them all at once, google might not like it.

What is the optimal rate to trickle in these pages over time?

What is the age of your site?

If it's fairly new, try to keep it to a minimal, though I'm not entirely sure if Google will even penalize you for adding all 1000 at one time.

If these pages are "necessary" to your site's purpose and users, then why would you not just add them right away...? Why would Google "penalize" an informational site for expanding on good content that is valued by users...?

You could add all the pages, but block the bots from them for the time being. Then slowly remove the restrictions from robots.txt.

The biggest challenge will be that adding 10,000 new pages will seriously change the flow of Page Rank within your site.

Plan your internal linking structures carefully so that your most important pages still get a healthy share of the available PR. Along with this, work on developing some quality new inbound links to increase your site's total PR.

If the new pages are well structured and text rich, there's a good chance you'll pick up enough traffic from new long-tail searches to compensate for any fluctuations in existing rankings.
