Please, can anybody help with this?

I have a website that sells widgets for men and women. I have used very similar strategies to promote both the men's and women's widgets. However, I am struggling (especially on Google) to gain results for the men's widgets even though the ladies' widgets are ranking extremely well (i.e. page 1 and 2 for several of the top key phrases) on both Google and Yahoo.

On Yahoo, to give an extreme example, I can use a key phrase for a specific type of men's widget (let's say it's "red steel men's widget" for the sake of argument) and I get a page 1 position 1 ranking. Sadly, if I type "red steel men's widget" in Google, the site is absolutely nowhere!

Has anybody else had experience of this extreme difference? Any help or pointers would be very gratefully received. Thanks to all who read this.

Usually if you're ranking well in Yahoo you are overoptimized for Google. If your title and Headers and text all have the same phrase try changing one or the other around and see if that helps. Google doesn't like overoptimization.

I understand what you are saying but this is not a problem for the entire website. Ladies' widgets are ok and men's widgets are not. So, surely, there must be another explanation?
