Monetizing old health/fitness domains I've had laying around.

I'm in a predicament here.. My first attempt at making money online was with fitness sites.. I spent a lot of time across 3 different sites.. I didn't really know anything about getting traffic, just more on the development end..

Well, when I realized I didn't know how to effectively get traffic / monetize them, I went onto other things..

So tonight for the hell of it, I decided to check their stats (after a long time).. To my amazement, one of them ranks very high for a semi-decent keyword, page 2 for quite a bigger keyword, etc.. and gets 70 uniques a day, consistently over the past year.. Stupid me doesn't even have a functioning order page.

Another one which is somewhat related, gets 50 unique visitors.. Another one gets 50 as well...

Not a *ton* of traffic but I'm not doing anything to monetize any of them.. the biggest benefit they have, is they're older established domains with some established backlinks, which means any future SEO I do on them will be much easier.

So my question is, what would you suggest doing to monetize them? I think the whole online fitness training route is not a good route, from what I learned...

The easiest would be to slap up some adsense and see how that goes, then while that is running find some affiliate programs that sell stuff related to your sites. Test the various products until you find one that makes you the most cash.

I agree with eljefe3. You could also try to sell the domains if you don't want to hold them any longer.

Depending on your content and features, you could attempt to switch to a newer ecommerce model of "free-mium" where you offer some content and features for free, but the more unique stuff has a membership fee/premium side to it.

check which keywords brought you the most traffic and create more content for those. Maybe even create an ebook around this topic and put affiliate links into it.
you also could create a short video with maybe some exercises and put it on youtube (don't forget to put your sitename /URL to the end of the video)
Good luck (and thanks for reminding me to re-start some old projects)

If I had a dollar for every site like this I had. So many unfinished projects. ;-)

I would simply run some highly targeted affiliate offers, or Adsense. That will give you a very small idea of which might be most profitable. Then focus on the one that seems to earn the best. Add more content, more marketing, etc.

You still have a long way to go. 100 visitors a day really won't earn much unless it is in a highly competitive niche.

Good luck!
