I moved [to a new] host, and each page takes about 40 seconds to load. Tech support is not particularly helpful. I did not build the site, but it worked fine on [the previous] host. Any ideas or suggestions? Any help appreciated.

Switch to a faster host?

I doubt it's like that for every customer or they wouldn't have any. Get support on the problem; I'm sure something is setup incorrectly.

Let me add something. We have a custom CMS and that loads lighting fast. Could google-analytics be the problem?

welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com], zulubanshee!

it should be a simple test to comment out the GA-related tags and see how fast it loads then.

are these static pages (html) or dynamic (script)?

I just figured it out: there was a piece of javascript for some functionality (a chatroom) that was never used and probably never will be. I commented it out. thanks for all the input folks. :)
