$12 Million donated to rebuilt Internet from scratch

A massive project to redesign and rebuild the Internet from scratch is inching along with $12 million in government funding and donations of network capacity by two major research organizations.

Considering it is all built on top of 1969 technologies and ideas it is a wonder we haven't looked at this before.

With G reporting a trillion unique URLs indexed it can't come soon enough.

I was just thinking if they could time this with the ipV6 roll out then we could have some incredible improvements in performance and it should also help to reduce costs a lot.
