How Much Access to Give?

I manage a website for a small startup. As we grow, we're starting to subcontract some elements of the web work plus we're using interns from the local university.

My question concerns whether or not I give them access to the control panel (CPanel in this case). Because I'm responsible for the integrity and security of the site, I tend to be very protective of the CP -- I don't want to risk someone, inadvertently or otherwise, putting a spanner in the works.

I could give two of the subcontractors a template of a page from a section of the site they're working on (the HTML and the master CSS file) and they could build their content (a single, albeit complex page in each case). When finished, they could send me the HTML page, any graphics, and changes/suggestions for changes to the CSS. I could then add the pages and add nav links. That way they wouldn't need access to the CP at all.

Am I being overly protective? How do others work in collaborative situations like this?

Thanks.

Do you have some ftp accounts? You could give the others limited ftp access

Why would they need access to the CP? You as the webmaster should set up all the services they need. Their job is to build/edit the site. Keep them the heck out of vital areas if they don't need to be in them. Now, if they were professionals, that might be a different story.
