Akamai have released a report of global internet stats called the "State of the Internet". Lots of interesting bits and pieces in there, from the biggest sources of internet attacks (China and the US) to unique IP addresses per capita (Sweden top the list with 0.4) or the countries with the fastest connection (South Korea in first place).

This report include[s] data gathered across Akamai's global server network about attack traffic and broadband adoption, as well as trends seen in this data over time.

The High Broadband Connectivity section surprised me a bit - there's still a lot of relatively slow users out there.

It comes as no surprise that South Korea tops the list of countries with the greatest levels of high broadband (>5 Mbps) connectivity. With nearly 64% of connections to Akamai occurring at over 5 Mbps, they are far ahead of the second-most well connected country, which is Japan with 48%...the United States comes in 7th, with just over 20% of the connections at “high broadband” speeds.
