Hi,

Well this is my recent online adventure :-)

I ve got 2 websites hosted in 2 different hosting companies, i was thinking to get dedicated ip for both websites so i send an email to both companies and asked them to get dedicated ip.

No1 hosting charge me $29.95 and No2 hosting charge me $24.00 so far all good ,

both of my websites were offline for few hours and then came back with no problems,

so my next step was to check my websites if they sharing the same ip address with other websites,

i used several online reverse ip tools but one of the 2 websites was sharing the same ip with 919 more websites.

So something is not going ok here, i paid to both hosting companies to get dedicated ip and one of them sharing the same ip with almost 1000 websites ,

I tried also the whois.#*$!, and for the first domain i i got this:
Dedicated Hosting: exampledomain*com is hosted on a dedicated server

but for the other domain i got this:
There are 919 domains hosted on this IP address.

So i pick up the phone and called them i explain that i paid to get dedicated ip but as i can see 919 domain names are sharing the same ip with me so something is not ok here

Support: " Give me few minutes to check with the tech department

Me: "ok i will wait not a problem"

Support: " Sorry for waiting, i can confirm that we have apply a dedicated ip on your current plan and the other 919 domains that you see is the domain names remainng in your account so if you add another domain in your hosting it will have the same ip.

Me: "EEEE..... What you mean that the other 919 domains i see that sharing the same ip with me are the remaing domains i have in my hosting , THATS CRAZY I CAN SEE IN DETAIL WHICH ARE THE OTHER DOMAIN NAMES AND I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT NONE OF THEM ARE MINE NONE ( i gave him few of the 918 domains to check )

Support: " You sure that those domains are not yours ?

Me: " OK THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP GOODNIGHT "

What can i say! ok im not an expert but i didnt expect an answer like that :-)

Time to escalate your request to someone higher up the food chain from the sounds of it.

So far all good? Why?

I've got a x.x.x.x/28 static subnet.....it didn't cost anything!
