Hi guys,

I found this old topic of 2003:
[webmasterworld.com...]

It discusses whether it is good or bad to have the page Title and H1 exactly duplicated. I have to admit that I am using the same phrase in my Titles and Headers.

The result? Not bad and not good. I don't feel I've been punished by Google but I also fail to rank within the top10 for my keywords with some exceptions (many of my pages are Top20 though). Initially I reckoned this was because my projects were all brand new...

I am about to rewrite some of the headers to see what happens.

Have you any up to date observations on this issue?

Depends on how competitive your keywords are, how much page rank (site trust, site age, links to your site, etc ) you have and how much content you have supporting those page titles.

If I were a web standards quality officer (nazi), I think hard targeting page titles and h1 exactly matching is a good thing as this is what this html document is about as far as the internet is concerned.
