Same filename different folder?

Ok if I have 2 files which are the same filename but in different directories i.e.

widget.html
/folder/widget.html

how, if at all, does this affect the potential ranking of those pages?

Assume the content on those pages is related but not duplicate.

i wouldn't worry over it to be honest.

Its the content of the pages and whether they're useful to visitors thats really one of the main deciding factors. The filename is not important, other than calling it something thats memorable (and relevant to the content of course).
