Blog-like function that can be embedded web page?

So an unskilled user could added updates in a list and have an RSS feed.

I like Blogs. Don't get me wrong. I like Blogger and WordPress. They're all great but I need something different for this.

I am looking for something really minimalist. Just a simple function that could be embedded into the body of a web page that will just list updates or links to new articles, etc. No feed back, no responses, not rankings, no nothing.

It should be so basic that a totally not tech savvy person can update it. That would be very nice.

Any ideas anyone?

Like an RSS or XML feed?

What aspect of a blog's functionality were you looking for exactly?

If it's just including text then a PHP include combined with FTP access might suffice.

Yes. Just text. Maybe a "Date Added" tag and on special occasions, the poster could throw in a picture.

I just need some function that will allow someone to add text to a page but in a list form:

Monday
This is a cool statement about something.

Tuesday
More valuable info for you.

Wednesday
Blah blah.

Something like that. But the poster will be someone who is not very tech savvy.

Any suggestions?

Probably a blog software with just custom fields for the data you want entered would be the easiest.

A blog software or the equivalent but on the web...

I suggest you try something like Twitter or Tumblr - I do not use them but it is popular because it allows users to share small text using RSS. NB, no pictures in Twitter and 140 characters limit.

A/ Create your account.
B/ Type your test
C/ Get the RSS link
D/ Insert the RSS in your website.

Then, if you are looking for a desktop application, then they are many available for Twitter.

Otherwise, you could always launch a private blog using Wordpress or DotClear (Private = noindex, no public access) and do the same with the RSS.

Thanks to everyone who has been giving suggestions.

The Twitter or Tumblr didn't quite fit my needs

I have found something that may work for me though.

Has anyone here used CuteNews over at CutePHP ?

Maybe I should start another thread.
