we're testing out some html email campaigns ... in gmail and outlook the text looks fine but in yahoo.com email only, we get funny characters like: à instead of à (french), € instead of the euro symbol (any language including english)

ive been playing around with the encoding of the html file that is sent: ANSI, UTF-8 with and without BOM, but it all seems to arrive screwed up like this and only in Yahoo mail.

This leads me to believe its the yahoo client which forces some kind of encoding ... is that possible? would there be different encoding rules for say yahoo.fr mail?

is there a solution for this?

have you checked the charset specification in the Content-Type HTTP response header?
how are the characters encoded in the content?

i dont remember how i fixed it exactly but it was a character encoding issue.
