All my newsletters are being banned by AOL with the following error message:

Remote host said: 554- (RTR:SC) [postmaster.info.aol.com...]
554 Connecting IP: ---.---.---.--
[details of IP removed in this post]

All my newsletters are requested, all have an unsubscribe link - and so appear to conform to AOL's rules.

AOL advise that the only way to get re-instated is to contact AOL' postmaster by phone; leaving a message will not do. Once one has wandered around AOL's sites, and tried the odd UK number, the only way to contact a AOL US phone number which is toll-free for US users, but not for UK callers, of course. Moreover, this number is manned in US EST.

Does anyone know a way of contacting the AOL postmaster via a UK phone?

AOL is American so their staff will be firmly convinced that:
1. 1-800 numbers work world wide
2. The only time zones that exist are those in North America
3. Everybody has a day off for Thanksgiving.

I feared as much - and have been told much the same by a UK webmaster - but thanks for the response. PITA, especially as this is just a social club web site, which I run as a freebie for the club since I belong to it. All recipients of the newsletter have requested it. I know spam is a problem - but AOL is beginning to have a reputation for unreasonably fierce filters; being difficult to contact about a problem does not help. Hey ho. I'll see if I can contact them on Tuesday.

Hi kiwibrit,

Please tell us how you get on ... I'm having to refuse AOL email addresses on our contact lists for the same reason.
