we use a htaccess password thingy to secure a folder in 2 of our sites, not sure what its technically called. (im quite the webmaster)

----------------------------------------------------------
The server ****** at ****** requires a username and password.

Warning: This server is requesting that your username and password be sent in an insecure manner (basic authentication without a secure connection).
-----------------------------------------------------------

so the sites been up since the middle of 2005, with no issues. its
for stores to buy stuff at a wholesale price so we have to have all
prices hidden.

anyway we received an email "i get your error page instead of the sign in page" -sign in page is just the windows security pop up thingy.

for the life of me i can't figure out what would cause that, no one
else has had this problem, its crazy. the person having issues is
using xp pro without any popup blocker- not that the blocker would
stop the password thingy. (and thats what we use)

someone has probably cranked up their security setting to the max.
not sure if this is a solution, but you could suggest that they add you to IE's list of trusted sites...

i tested that and it still worked for me:

i.e. 7 - tools - internet options - security - high

is there some other settings i can test?

sorry that was just a guess and my best shot unfortunately.
are you sure about which browser version/platform they are on?

What error page? 500 - Internal Server Error —, 404 - page not found, 403 - forbidden?

As long as you do not know the error message there is no way you can solve the problem.

Perhaps its even a message on the customers side: This page has been blocked by the router, please contact the administrator.

ahhhh, i did all the error pages the same.

in cpanel's error log there's no errors listed.

i will have them reset their router, our router is always messing
things up over here.
