Hi everyone!

i have just joined this wonderful world of webmasters. and i look fwd to learning about SEO and the web overall from all of u.

my question relates to:
migrating an existing site to a new url.

we have a current site: eg: www.old.com
and we have changed the IA and design along with security etc to create a more robust and user friendly site. eg: www.new.com

from an SEO and ranking perspective, we have kept new.com alive for a few months now and will take this url to launch this new site.

in terms of SEO, how does it affect the new site? how about the ranking that we have gathered over the years on old.com?

also, what is a good way to migrate the users? redirect strategy? or is there some other creative source to help me?

thanks for your help in advance!

also, i have been trying to get some research on how other sites in the past may have done this. any feedback here would be of great help!

thanks!

this thread helps sort out 301 redirects. which i think we do have some solid thots on...

i was thinking about managing user experience. have any other sites done it already?
