How to get reflection effect

I have noticed that there is a new trend to have mirrored reflexions on a lot of websites.

For example, the banner at the top of [medhelp.org...]

How is this done, any tutorials out there?

I think you 'just' need to make a transparent copy of the image and flip it. Image manipulation libraries for your language should be able to accomplish this.
