I have an issue at the moment and was hoping some of the fellow webmasters here have some bright ideas on what I can do.
I am building a new website for a client of mine. For this website we have a new domain registered. The problem this client has is that in the past he had a legal dispute with his business partner at that time and that partner has been legally removed from the company. However, this old partner owns the domain name from the old site on which a very old website (and ugly) is hosted for this same company.
As this old site has been online for a while it will show up in any search attempt. When the new site is ready it will also be registered in the search engine. I foresee a big problem here for my client's customers and that is that potential clients might first see the old site and will access that and when there is no response on any emails or such, my client will lose these clients which is bad for his business.
Does anybody have any idea how to improve this situation. Sueing the old partner will be a longdreaded process if succesful at all. Of course my company will try to get higher search engine rankings than the old one, but I am looking for the best solution, if there is any other solution at all.
Many thanks,
wm
But you really need to speak with a legal expert about this.
