Hi All, we just installed Google's Python sitemap generation script on one of our sites. The sitemap is generated, but when I open it in a browser it gets displayed as XML code. Does anyone know how important it is to have this properly display in a browser? I'm probably just being paranoid but I want to maximize the benefit of sitemap submissions.

Thanks,
Chris

It could indicate a couple of things:

- browser file extension handling not set right.
- server not sending out the correct mime type for the file.

try a different browser.

Check your server headers on the send and look at the mime type. Then see if your browser is also configured correctly to handle xml.
