Register vs. Suscribe to newsletter dilemma, how did you manage it?

Some people just wonīt register, but are more likely to suscribe to news...

Hello there!
I have a site that does not permit people to "register", but instead, they can suscribe to email newsletters, leaving just their emails. I have a big red rectangle in the site that shows this possibility, and itīs just a click away.

Now, I would like to give users the possibility of registering too, completing their profile, etc... but I know that some people just donīt like to leave their info, or simply are too lazy to do that. But as suscribing to the newsletter is so easy, they are willing to do that instead.

So I will like users to still be able to ONLY suscribe to newsletters.
My dilemma comes when I try to put myself in the place of the common user that arrives to the site.

How can I avoid them being confused about this?
Users may think that to suscribe they have to register, or that they are both the same thing...

I would like to know if anyone of you come across this issue, and how did you manage it?
Thanks in advance for all your thoughts!

i would continue optimizing the conversion of subscriptions using your website and then use the newsletter as a driver for registrations.
you can use analytics to track your conversions from various drivers.
