OMG

just discovered that there is a site same as my url .
mine in exactly same but in the end with a "s"

example : Google.com mine is goggles.com

what can i do now?
i am not afraid of competiitons just that the use will go to wrong site.
i search for this url before i buy a domain. its taken on 2002. even appoint the agent to find the possibilities selling it to me ,
after 6 months i release my site (no access yet but google does) i see this url is up. but the site is freaking ugly but the founder is not someone simple ..lol.

compare to me he/she is a phd in computer etc.

getting freak somehow.
should i change my domain to new one?

I know your pain. I finally found a relevant domain name I really like for a reasonable price. However, a very common mis-spelling was taken and non-responsive when I inquired about buying it. Argh.

So, I grit my teeth and bought the name I wanted and will probably face more pain down the road when some people go to the wrong one.

I think the questions you have to ask yourself are...

(A) What are your options? If there's another good name you can get, go for it. I spent WEEKS, no MONTHS, working on different name combinations that were relevant and appealing. I decided to lump it.

(B) How serious is the risk of confusion? Is the other site really similar to yours? For example, I have now twice mis-typed webmasterworld.com, accidentally adding an "s" (webmasterSworld), including once when I was recommending the site to a friend. With the S, you go to a porn site. While this was embarrassing, my friend immediately knew that wasn't the site I meant and asked me for a clarification.

Best of luck to you!

Hi pat,

The other site is live now while mine is under final phase pf dev.
changing the name or domain wont be a big matter. but its the name itself already well suited.

i have to think abt other name

RULE OF THUMB : NEVER BUY A PLURAL DOMAIN . IF SINGLE WAS TAKEN THEN DROP THE IDEA AND FIND OTHER DOMAIN. :)

good luck to you as well.
