Getting Strange Visitor IP Address

Hundreds of visits from one IP Address

Something strange is going on. When checking my stats from statcounter, I noticed that a little-visited site (30 or so visits a day) suddenly had 800+ this morning. I checked the stats and they all are coming from a single IP address:

255.255.255.255

That doesn't resolve to anything. So I blocked it temporarily.

Does anyone have a clue as to what that might be?

That's a local broadcast address. It is probably coming from a server within your ISP. It shouldn't propagate beyond the first router hop.

Is it something I should be concerned about ... some sort of hijacking or malware or something ... or can I turn that ip address back on

Probably not, but it may indicate a bug in the server, or that another account on the ISP has been hacked.

Send the ISP support an email, asking about it.
