LAMP as most have come to know it is:
Linux, Apache, MySql, PHP

However there is another LAMP making it's way on to many servers and it is Linux, Apache, MySql, Python

There is an open source foundation [modpython.org...] that is running python using Apache as the server side compiler.

It is clean, fast, really fast, and it coming a long way.

I have been toying with it for a few months now and have since moved two sites into production using it. I am very happy so far.

However I am finding some of the support and community is spread out and it is hard to get any good discussions going about implementations in a readable fashion.

Since the sites I launched are new I have no historical data to compare with as far as page loads and those types of things go. Has anyone done a switch over and seen improvements or disappointing results?

Is anyone using this? What are your thoughts?

Wow.... a few days and no-one?

I guess this is why I can't get any good discussions going on it.

I don't think it's a well-established choice, mostly because pre-built scripts are usually PHP or maybe Perl, so Python is for custom development. Most hosting companies offer Python on their servers though so it is easy to try out.

Of course, Python is used extensively by Google, so you're not entirely alone in choosing it! ;)
