Same company offering different ips is it worth it

If you are running multiple sites is it adviced to us the same hosting company granted they will supply you with different ips for each site or just use a different hosting company all together for each site?

All SEO tricks have the same eventual consequence: the search engines get smarter all the time. Your sites are all dead meat once they figure out you've been gaming them.

Then you'd better hope they don't know how to tie any new sites you create to your old ones.
