Wordpress For Regular Websites (not blogs) - Does Google OK With it?

Does Google 'disapprove' of webmaster's using Wordpress as a platform for designing a new site that isn't a blog?

I was worried that if Wordpress was used for anything other than a blog they discount the site as inauthentic or boiler plate, low on the authority probability.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks!

I doubt it that you would get penalized by search engines for "abusing" blogging software. In fact many top site run blog content management systems these days. Blogsmith for example.

This should not be a problem...

Just make sure to remove all terms related to blogs such as "Wordpress", "RSS", etc.

Many are using Wordpress to create website using the "pages" technic. Just make sure to use Google Webmaster Tools, a sitemap in XML and monitor pages to be indexed (using META).

We have installed a WordPress blog on our site, and it has been indexed and crawled ok.

I think as others have said, just make sure its your blog as an add onto your website, and not just the website as a blog.

If you're looking to expand your web content to more the blogs, instead of using Wordpress is blogging focused and treats richer functionality as an after thought, you should give [drupal.org ] a whirl.
