Buying SSL cert from famous vendor VS less well know vendor?

What are the drawback if buying a SSL cert from famous vendor, compared to other less well know vendors which offer a cheaper price?

E.g. will some browser not support those cert issued by some less well known vendors?

Browser support for even cheap certificates is usually pretty good these days. Essentially, if you buy a brand-name cert you're paying for a badge to put on your website, to reassure your visitors/customers.

If it's customer confidence/reassurance you're after, then a big name helps. If this doesn't matter to you and you just want a certificate that works, then there's no problem with the lower cost options.
