Problems with Microsoft Outlook and Network Password

With my Outlook program on my computer, every time I open the program I get a popup asking for my password. I enter the password, click save password, and the emails work while the program is open.

As soon as I close the program, and open it again later, it asks me for my passwords AGAIN!

Also, when I look into the Email Accounts options, I find that neither the Outgoing or INcoming server passwords have been saved. Why is this?

I am using Outlook 2002, and Windows Vista.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Christian,

In the settings for Outlook, click on Tools > Account Settings > (highlight the account) > CHANGE tab > More settings... (button) > Outgoing server (tab) then check "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication > (then select either) "Use same settings as my incoming mail server -or- Log on using (in which case enter your user ID and password) > (then) Okay. This should solve the repeated asking of the password.

This setting for my Outgoing mail server is already setup for the accounts on my Outlook. The weird problem is that even though I enter in this information, each time I open up Outlook, when I look at these account settings, the Outgoing mail server and Incoming Mail Server passwords are gone. Not saved.

By the way, do you need any other information/settings from me to figure out what is wrong with the system? I have heard that many people are reported to have this problem, but I haven't had any success in fixing it.

Off the top of my head, in one of the windows I mentioned before, is there not a check box that reads "remember password." If so, it is checked?

Yep, all of the "remember passwords" boxes are checked. That is why I find it odd that it won't remember my password!
