I zipped a number of jpg files (62Mb zip file size) and uploaded them to the site. Then created an text link to that zip file on a page. On clicking the link, the open/download selection box opens. When I click download, it starts downloading but stops after 1,3Mb was downloaded. When I open the downloaded zip file locally, WinZip says it can't because it is corrupted. When I check the content of the zip file sitewide, all images are there. Locally the zip file opens normally.

What could be wrong here? (= slitting headache)

My guess is you tried downloading it before it had finished uploading; and now your browser has cached the incomplete file. Clear your cache and retry.

How are you transferring the file to the server? Is the local file corrupt?

The zip file was fully uploaded. Cleared the cache anyway. Same result.

Both the local and the remote zip file contain all the images. They all can be viewed.

I FlashFTP the zip file to the site. Also uploaded it through Dreamweaver. Same result.

Have you tried downloading it with different browsers?

Have you opened the FTP connection and check the file size on the server?

Yes the file size both local and remote are the same.

Now, this is funny. Whereas dowloading the zip file from the site in IE7 gives me a headache, it works perfectly well in FF.

Still, I need site visitors be able to download it in IE as, I'm sorry to say, 80% of my site visitors use that browser.

Sounds like a problem on your end. Try having some other people download the file from other PCs.
