Now my site wasn't REALLY active in the first place but the last time that it went for more than a few days without a click was a loooong time ago. I have done a bit of research online about how the less white hat of us can hijack such things. I have checked out my id in the code and its correct so they didn't do it that way.. and I still show impressions as happening. Is this a possible instance of "cache poisoning"?.. how could a publisher test this without going and clicking on their own ads?

I believe it is ok to have no clicks if the traffic is low. Maybe Google does not have enough inventory for your site, and public service ads were shown. Could also be badly targeted or low quality ads.

You can also click on the "ads by Google" link, and verify that it functions normally.

But if you've looked at the source from your browser, and if impressions are indeed being recorded, then there probably isn't anything to worry about. It's imaginable that clicks could be intercepted or otherwise monkeyed with at a very deep level, but it seems highly unlikely.
