Hi Folks,

As you've probably guessed, I'm pretty new to all this. I recently created and submitted my first sitemap and it was like pulling teeth. Anyway...what type of amendments necessitate a replacement or updated sitemap?

I presume we are not talking textual changes, but what about additional pages or changes to HTML coding tags?

Many thanks for your help here!

hi belenenses and welcome to webmasterworld.

I think some people automatically update their sitemap using a some sort of sofware or prgram or something.
I usually update it once every 3-4 months when I add about 50 pages.

belenenses,

The first part of my response may not be of any help, but my on-site search engine software automatically updates my site map tags for last updated and adds new pages. On sites where I do not have search engines, I do it manually. Only when I add new pages, do I actually resubmit it to SE's because they regularly spider my XML site map. And just in case you do not have one, you should have a human site map with a link from your home page. SE's will look at that too.
