What to do when a user registers with your WordPress blog?

A user registered yesterday at my blog, but don't know what to do with it

This is a very recent blog. The user did not write any comment also. Actually, you don't need to be registered to comment.

What could the reason be for his registration? Does WordPress provide some kind of newsletter emails to people who register? Or do I need to setup such a thing?

I searched the WordPress Admin page but did not find anything to do with a registered user.

Some spammers will register in order to spam.
Some blogs are set up so that registered users can post (perhaps he was checking?)
Some visitors get confused and think they need to register but don't know why.

Keep a careful eye on him.

I found that some newbies think there is more to be found when they register.

Especially if you had little content to view but enough to entice, it's possibly an honest registration.

Best defense is not to allow comments to auto-post if they have more than 1 link (the setting is under discussions I think). Spammers can't help themselves and always post half a dozen links for some stupid reason.

I can easily keep an eye on him/her. Nobody has ever commented on my blog yet. It is just 2 weeks old. So, I can easily check what he is doing.

Just did not want to miss out an opportunity of satisfying a customer, because of my lack of knowledge of WordPress features.

I think I will change the setting as AmznVibe suggested. That should keep the things under control when more people start coming to my blog.
