I have been hosting my site with a provider for about 1 year. I did not face any problems with this hosting service. But, want to move to another one as I can host unlimited sites and bandwidth provided is very high. I recently started a blog on this new hosting provider.

My old site is not attracting any major traffic. Actually, you cannot call it traffic. About 6 visitors per week, sent by search engines. All my pages are indexed by both Google and Yahoo!. There is no page that is missing.

Now, if I move it to another hosting provider, will there be any major problems that I need to lookout for? Or should I continue with my the current hosting provider?

I like the new provider, because I get shell access, which makes my life a lot easier.

It's usually a good idea to have everything up and running at the new host before closing the old account. You can use the URL on their site before switching the DNS over. The search engines shouldn't miss a beat.

Cool. Thanx Bill.

I will start copying my website files over to the new hosting server.

I guess I cannot update anything while the DNS updates are happening. Other than that I should be fine, I am hoping.

A great song starts by clearing the throat. Move the site, it'll be fine. I hope your new host works out for you - although I've rarely heard good long-term performance reports from those who offer unlimited domains and very high bandwidth.
