Hello all,

Rcently my pageviews have jumped dramatically!

And they are all coming from a bot called “Wget 1.9”. From my research I have found that this is a free bot that is used to copy data and can potentially be used to harm my site.

Is there something I can do to block this bot?

The reason I am worried is because of the bots location:

wget is a Unix command line tool - typical use is to grab a page or two manually from a site rather than run browser and do Save As command there. Sounds like whoever wants to grab a couple of pages from your site come from .EDU domain - hardly the place for the most evil people out there - certainly not ever since Bill Gates dropped out of his Uni :)
