I'm curious what people's opinion is on standard photo size, for full size photos in a photo gallery. Obviously having multiple sizes are the best way to go, but I'm not going to do that... Mainly just because I have a huge amount of past photos processed and I don't want to have to go back and redo them all. I have numerous sites that have extensive photo galleries... As screen sizes and bandwidth have increased over the years, I've found myself wishing that I had gone with larger sizes. In the old dial-up days I use to go with 700 pix across. Then went up to 800 and 900. Now I'm thinking 1000 would be good because I personally switched to 1280x1024 and noticed a 900 pixel image doesn't really look that big anymore. But I'm trying to keep in mind that there's a lot of laptops and smaller screens out there. I think scrolling an image is annoying, although the new 'shrink click' function on some browsers helps with that now.

What's ideal for me may not be ideal for you. If this is a hobby site, then I wouldn't even worry about it. If this is a business site, pull up your logs and see what screen resolution most of your users have. Just because you upgraded over the years doesn't mean everyone else is on board either.
