I imagine I'd have to code some sort of algorithm which checks my Apache logs for RSS requests and does some fancy science with IPs and User-agents and timestamps and makes an educated guess.
Is it impossible to track number of RSS users?

You might consider FeedBurner (now owned by Google) - it provides basic stats.

Sorry, but I prefer to stay as far away from Google as possible except for AdSense and AdWords.
