importing images

how to import from external site

I have thousand of urls for the images i am using from the other website on mine. Now i want all of them to have on my local machine so that i can embeded them with my website datase to remove external links. MY problem is how to save the image on a particular url with the same image name.

Any help will be appreciated.

Why don't save the images on your pc and then upload them on your site. That way you won't lose them.

Besides writing your own application to iterate through the URLs and save them locally, I don't see an alternative to having to download them and fix your existing references manually.

I'm sure the folks in either the PHP [webmasterworld.com] or the ASP [webmasterworld.com] forums could help with this (depending on what platform you are running and are most comfortable with). :)
