SEO is a progressing field. Webmasters use latest techniques day by day starting form dir submission to forum posting. Some popular new techniques are Social bookmarking, Rss Feed, PPC etc.
Can any one explain some more techniques of SEO?

PPC = pay per click is not SEO, it's kind of the opposite in fact ;-)

not realy new, not really popular ... article submissions!
it is the new 'best' way to get links

One of the things in the social space I'm seeing is what some call stumbleclub or stumbleme... you stumble my site and I'll stumble yours. This is going on at a furious pace at sites like <snip>.

microformats is my favourite new one. they are very easy to do as well. you don't get much benefit out of them at the moment but there are already a few search engines that catalog pages with them on.

microformats

Which SEs are working with microformats now?

kitchen.technorati searches for a few things already - contacts, events, and reviews. i've come across a few other sites that let you ping your events pages to, like Eventful.
but like i say, you don't get much benefit from them yet.

Is it worth doing at all? I mean what is the point if it doesn't help your SE ranking?

We had a thread about microformats [webmasterworld.com] a couple of months ago that might get you started.

Don't you mean SEO stand for Search engine optimization?

There are those of us who believe that PPC does affect SEO. We now know that the relevancy of a landing page factors into ad position and cost. The keywords you bid on may factor into the algorithm and improve the relevancy of organic listings and your position in the serps.

Only if you get somebody with a high-PR Stumble profile to stumble you. Otherwise, you will get no boost of SE rankings. Trafficwise, check this out. I tried a club and got around 300 stumbles a day for a week... no clicks :D So, stumble traffic doesn't click and it doesn't return. I wouldn't bother too much!

@Londrum >> I though Semantic Web and RDF were the future of the web...

Article submission is still the best...

More and more blogs are doing "guest posting" which is similar.
