Back in the mid to late 90's I developed an ecommerce site. I used the following:

Active Server Pages - Server side
HTML
Javascript - client side
Java - various java applets that provided specific functions
IIS - operating system
Access - Database

But here we are in 2007, what are the right lanquages to develop with today?

My sense is:
PHP - Server side
Linux - OS
CSS
Javascript/Ajax - Client side
OScommerce - ecommerce app.
MySQL - database
?

I just want to be sure the time I invest is in mainstream and future looking lanquages.

Thanks,

Welcome to WebmasterWorld split63,

what you have listed for the 2007 version is fine.

There is no best as you can find pros and cons to everything but your setup will give you everything you need.

I am not sure whether oscommerce would be considered the choice. Though you would need to assess any ecomm package to see what is best for you.
