I write a political blog with no appreciable income. But I have been threatened w. 2 defamation lawsuits & once a writer threatened me w. copyright infringement. After noting that several of them found pictures of my home online & used this to gauge me as someone of some financial worth (& thereby worthing of trying to fleece I presume), I've decided I need to incorporate the blog.

My blog is just myself & as I said there are no assets to it. I just want to protect my family & our personal assets fr. the Huns.

Should I incorporate or is LLC the way to go? Also, can I do the incorporation by myself or should I hire an attorney?

This is an international forum and your problem will be covered by local laws. It would help if you said what jurisdiction you live in.

Hire an attorney. Do it right the first time. You have assets? spend it :)

Being incorporated doesn't necessarily prevent you from being sued personally. If you wrote the article, you're the target.

The primary reason for individuals to incorporate is to have health insurance be100% deductible.

I live in Washington State (USA).

I'm not sure we're understanding ea. other. I'm not worried about being sued. I'm worried about protecting my family's assets if I am sued.

If you do incorporate then be prepared for heaps of new paperwork to file each year!

Huh? If you're self-employed (in the U.S.), health insurance is already deductible (see line 29 on the 1040).

I think what you meant is that by incorporating, the BUSINESS can deduct the amount, lowering the business's taxable income.
