whats necessary to work in online video.?

I assume online video is something where supply of workforce hasnt really caught up with demand. Only a guess, of course, but most SEOs/IMs I know dont really know much about it, yet.

Any idea how a self-starter with previous experience in SEO/IM could break into this niche?

I have no idea how much I would have to learn about it...and/or...if I could leverage my experience in SEO (video SEO?) to break into this field.

This is a complicated question. Are you going to write, film, edit and distribute the videos? Anyone of these parts of the process could require extensive experience to make a quality video.

Video SEO itself is not much different from any other SEO, just make sure to include a text transcript of the content of the video.

As far as the filming, you would have to research the type of camera and lights that would best suit your needs. The editing process could be relatively inexpensive if you want to do basic stuff, anything more complicated would require higher end (read more expensive) software.

The conceptualization and writing of the video's content may be the most difficult of the process as many people do not understand what it takes to create a quality video.
