I'm looking for a Unix compatible server similar to Microsoft Windows media server to allow me to stream videos from my Unix web server for playback under TVU networks streaming video platform. I've found a few but they won't playback .wmv files which is a requirement.

Run a Windows 2003 server as a VM on the Unix box under virtual Box OSE or equivalent.

Install Windows Media Server in that VM and you should be good to go. Allow at least 10gb system disc to allow for all patches to present and some expansion room. If you have the space make a separate drive ~4gb for optional programs like Windows Media Server.

Thanks, I will look into that. There are no straight unix solutions?
