How to create thumbnail of video after upload ?

my hosting does not support FFMPEG so i want to have some solution by which i can make thumbnail of my video uploaded by the users , i dont need it on fly as the uploaded videos are moderated before publishing,i am looking for some solution online/offline way to make thumbnail for video may be batch thumbnail is what i want actually.

can any one got an idea how to do it, just point me in right direction

if i cant do it online, i want to know how to do it offline without downloading the whole video ?

Offline you can do it with virtualdub then resize with a image editing application.

There' multiple options for output but I don't think resizing is one of them. You can export every frame if you want or even every x amount of frames.

Other than that most videoplayers have this option or id you have windows machine MS Movie Maker has a snapshot option.
