What next? will they pull all the INK PFI out too? leaving them with an entirely non-commercial set of results?
I still se Inktomi trusted feed in MSN
I find it amazing that they can simply edit the Inktomi / Looksmart syndication in this way...I would have thought the agreement with Inktomi to licence their database would have excluded "taking parts of it".
Some new information... Apparently MSN are not (and can't) filter out the LS/Ink trusted feed BUT there is a fault with the feed, which is being rectified, that has stopped INK. from reading relevent fields in the feed, therefore all LS trusted feeds are currently so far down ink's Algo (and probably only on the wrong terms) that you have to be looking on some pretty obscure terms to find them.
So - sounds like a technical issue more than a political one.
If true (and I heard it from the horse's mouth) then we can expect some result jiggling soon...
I haven't tried to correlate the words with what I see on the ground just yet... far to many other things to consider and my first is to measure overall traffic changes from MSN before concentrating on rankings.
Are you saying LS listings are clearly identifiable in the pure search? .... actually I see that is exactly what you are saying...
So much for horses.
In MSN.co.uk results now. Sadly not my own yet, but something to work on there...
I do note that the MSN results order is different to pure search though... but the LS one I saw was TOP on MSN and 7th on pure search
Dixon.
However, LS/Ink trusted feed is a different offering from LS to PFI and we have one site supposedly in it (like Positiontech's pay for performance for sites with more than 500 URLS) - it is these that LS said have a technical balls up. At the moment I can't find the site either in MSN OR Pure search so I am inclined to agree with my sales rep (I am forever the optimist)
Dixon.
Looksmart is gone and the only way into MSM with looksmart is with a INK PFi, but be warned It looks like MSN are dampening those results but letting them in, but with a LS dampening factor.
As for MSN we are know pulling many #1 and the traffic is quite good, the best thing is that MSN surfers are buying, the conversion rate against google.co.uk is much better imho.

and before everyone wades in, yes there are still 3 overture results and sometimes 1 MSN 'FEATURED SITES'
