Duplicate Content Penalty...

If you rotate content on the home page, based on articles from the rest of the same site; is this considered dup content and if so what is the best time line to avoid duplicate content penalty?

EG: A how to site that shows tutorial of the day on the home page.

To avoid the dup content should this be set to change every day or week?

The site gets crawled once or twice a day.

How large are your tutorials? Would you just post a few sections with a "read the rest here" type link?

The best thing to do for this type of situation is to check around for other sites have similar setups and see how they rank in the search engines.

Usually the worst thing that can happen is one piece is selected over the other for the search engine results.

Also, there are a few great threads around here with similar type questions regarding duplicate content.

I actually have the exact same thing on my site, i generally go to the forum and get a feel for what people are intested in and put something up on the hompage for a couple of days as well as in its own section, i doubt there will be a big issue, defiantly not anything like a penalty or even banishment, (or atleast i hope so)
