subdomain trick

a trick to avoid PR leak

Hello

I have this idea: to place the links page in a separate subdomain of the main site - like http://links.example.com
This way - I'll link to only one external site (actually my own site's subdomain), while the reciprocal links partners will all link to the main site.

Does anyone think that this is a good idea to lower the PR leaking through links to other sites.
I've done this to one of my sites last year and it seemed to work - only about 50 reciprocal links and the site got a PR 5. Yet, I am unsure if the PR 5 is due to this trick or just to the link exchange.

Anyone can help?

Thanks.

Your link partners, unless they are dense, should be upset with this plan.

There are different opinions about PR leakage, whether that concept has validity any more.
Some people might argue that honest outgoing links actually improve
your PR and/or SERPs positioning with Google. - Larry

Why? They are also getting a non-reciprical link are they not?
